Half Rhodes stitch with bar
This is an adaptation of Rhodes stitch, producing a decorative stitch shaped rather like an old-fashioned sheaf of corn, with a bar across the centre to tie the threads together.
Half Rhodes stitch is worked over squares of two, four, six or eight threads of evenweave fabric, in an anticlockwise direction. Follow the sequence of stitching shown. Maintain the same sequence for every stitch to achieve a uniform effect. The bar is formed with one straight stitch, which can be decorated with buttonhole stitch (optional) as shown in the diagram.
